Real authentic Korean food. !This place was good, but not sure about 5 stars. Maybe I went with high expectations (I am firm believer that expectations will make or break your experience, with food, movies, holidays, etc). Korean Restaurant As I've lived in Korea, I would not say it is the most authentic Korean restaurant, but then, those who have not lived...Advice: book a table as it seems the restaurant only serves a max number of tables. They have no website but you can reserve your spot by calling 020 642 3142. Also enjoy the side dishes they brought out.
Hwa Won is one of the three Korean restaurants in this little corner of Amsterdam. We always take the same things (which I highly recommend btw): Yuk-He, cold julienned raw beef with a raw egg yolk. The kimchi was my favorite ever and everything was cooked and delivered to perfection. The food was truly stellar! Did I mention that the staff were all genuine and lovely?!? I believe it is seasoned with pear juice, sesame oil and soysauce; Soondubu Jigae, hot spicy tofu stew/soup; and Dolsot Bibimbap, rice dish with beef and vegetables in a stone pot. Thankfully, there is Hwa Won! A last minute booking.

It is hard to find decent Asian food in the Netherlands and Korean food is one of the most difficult to find. The atmosphere is however non existing....This family owned restaurant offer a good varieties of Korean food. The place seemed very busy but the staff managed to seat us!
Prices are higher then I'm used to at 20 for a tofu stew, but tasty for what you get. Ojingo Bokum was marvelous, kimchi outstanding. Don’t expect a fancy decor or cozy ambiance, people come here to enjoy some great Korean food. Their kimchi pancake is also different, with addition of mushrooms and cabbage and likely more gochujang) Korean chili paste). When we arrived around 20:00 (they close at 22:00), the restaurant was half empty. 161 likes. Most Korean restaurants closed on Monday, so was fortunate to find this place.
Quite a jaunt to get here and well worth it.
