I bought a 1960's copy of The Snow Goose at a library sale because it looked interesting and I had never heard of it...and I'm a sucker for new literary fare.The Snow Goose is set in the years running up to the evacuation of Dunkirk in the Second World War. One, the snow goose is set against the back ground of the second world war and the other, the small miracle, against the bigotry of some sections of the catholic church. My dad had a copy of this and another (The Small Miracle?) I found the story wonderful. When the snow goose departs for home, Rhayader is left alone again.
