We need alot more water to bring up levels both in the loughs and the river.The Costelloe and Fermoyle has had a steady increase in water levels and fresh fish are running in the elevated water. Yesterday we had 2 salmon, 2lb and 5lb ( returned) caught by first timer to the system, Brendan Haddock.
Glad to report that the Costelloe and Fermoyle is up and running and can confirm that yesterday, after a small amount of rain, we had a 5lb 10oz piece of silver and was the first salmon caught on the system this year. The majority of rivers close on September 30th but some rivers remain open for sea trout fishing to October 12. While the weather may have been average, the sea fishing certainly wasn’t as the seas around the Irish coast seem to have exploded into life over the past week.
